getting to the root of evil

I tossed and turned last night, and never felt I got any rest. One thought that kept me from finding any peace of mind was that maybe we are making the wrong comparison between Vietnam and our current involvement in Iraq.
War is an industry, and as long as it is profitable, there will be poeple willing to engage in it. It seems if we can make profiting from the suffering of others by our investment in the creation and sale of military weapons as unacceptable as slavery , we can get to the true motivation that is continuing to spread violence across the globe.
so maybe the war we need to be studying, in order to learn from the past, is the Civil War.
